“Wayne Brezinka has one of the most recognizable styles in Nashville’s contemporary art scene. His multimedia collages are a little like Vik Muniz-style optical illusions — Brezinka takes ephemeral materials like concert tickets, bits of fabric, vintage photos and newspaper clippings to create uncannily lifelike illustrations of icons from Fred Rogers to Bob Dylan. His exhibition Past Forward: 2008 to 2022 features 14 works that span the past 15 years and is the artist’s first career retrospective. Exhibition highlights include the work Brezinka was commissioned to make for Willie Nelson’s 2009 album Lost Highway, as well as a portrait of Bruce Springsteen that’s made from rare concert ephemera. It should be like an “I spy” game for music fans and art enthusiasts — pinpointing Brezinka’s source materials is an art in itself.” – LAURA HUTSON HUNTER, Arts Editor for The Nashville Scene

PRESENTATION OVERVIEW
Celebrate this great American icon with this don’t-miss exhibition, ELVIS: The Sound of History
This fall, for one night only, travel back in time on a visual journey to the 1950’s. Experience a one-of-a-kind new exhibition featuring the work of artist Wayne Brezinka.
See why NPR calls this “. . . A stunning portrait of Elvis.”
Visitors will experience a rare, up-close viewing of Brezinka's "Elvis" on loan from The Storytellers Museum. See artifacts from Elvis Presley’s rise to stardom that live on in this striking portrait. Documents and personal objects once owned by Col. Tom Parker (Elvis' manager) salvaged from his home and office are featured within this work and offer further insight into this understudied yet vitally important and historic manager of the artist’s career.
Additional Brezinka originals will be on view and complement this exhibition.
Presented for the first time in the historic, private home of Country Music legend and Grand Ole Opry star Hank Snow - roam the halls of this unassuming Madison, Tennessee residence frequented by Elvis Presley who often visited, see the piano he played and where he spent many of his early days.
