As an artist, I'm inspired by events unfolding around me.
I continue to be drawn to human beings and their stories. I'm drawn to the deep life that each of us carries quietly and internally — a sacredness that we convey through the light in our eyes. We all enter into this world the same way, and one day we will pass on. All divisions aside, we are all connected as human beings.
Today (Sunday 18 September, 2022) Queen Elizabeth’s coffin is lying in state for the fourth full day in Westminster Hall, ahead of her state funeral on Monday 19 September, 2022.
As tributes and respects have flowed out for the queen and her full life, I've been inspired by the grace, beauty and complexity of this woman.
Her long service was marked by her strong sense of duty and her determination to pour herself without reservation into the role she was assigned.
She became for many the one constant in a rapidly changing world as British influence declined, society changed beyond recognition and the role of the monarchy itself came into question. Her death brings to a close a reign that spanned seven decades and made her the most recognized woman in the world.
